Description I figured I've been overdue for another Rita and Runt pic, and since I wanted to do something completely different from my only other drawing of them (read: something sweet and heartwarming) this scenario immediately sprang to my mind.

I can't take complete credit for this, since I have to thank for providing me with the inspiration.

Runt is more of a brother to Rita than a love interest, but this looks amazingly good

Normally I'd agree, but this was in fact inspired by a fanfic which took the "characters are actors" route, so more room was allowed for this sort of thing. It's hard to see them as love interests going by the show alone, after all.

Whoa! You're FAST!
Still maintain that this is all you, but the bottom line is, i'm so very glad you got this image in your head and followed through with it. It's like you took chapter 6 and went a step further into the parts that didn't make the final cut. amazing how you do that sorta thing so consistently. i guess i have to go back to calling you a psychic again!

i dig everything about this picture, from the painted clouds to the details in the grass (i gotta learn interactive textures in the ground techniques) and of course, the stars of the picture. Your shading adds so much to the characters.

i guess that about settles it... definitely gonna do this one before the other plans next, if you know what i mean. You're truly awesome, Gui.

Aw, it wasn't that fast...well, actually three days from rough draft to finished is pretty fast for me now that I think about it.
So glad that you like the final product, and even more glad that it makes you want to follow through with that; I'd make the comparison of a chicken-and-egg scenario in terms of inspiration, except that everything can be traced back to you deciding to post your stories in the first place, so I still have to insist that no small part of the credit goes to you. Given what you wrote it's hard to imagine something like this not taking place at some point, and I really wanted to express that in the form of a drawing.

Of course, some of the details I took shortcuts on, since I'm not skilled enough to paint clouds the sky was done with one of the many cloud brush packs I've downloaded over the years, and I used Photoshop's grass brush to do the ground, very handy. I wanted the real focus to be on the 'stars' as you say, standing out against a simple but nice-looking background, and I'm happy that you seem to think that's the case.

Thanks again!

I think that's another thing i like about this... It's not simply what i do, think of a specific scene and draw exactly what's there, you take an abstract, an interpretation of a feeling you get from something and put your spin on it. That's kinda what makes it really so effective as a piece, as it's truly of your own machinations. It's as if we do the same thing with the pen, but in different mediums. Visual and Textual respectively.

Oh! I'd forgotten about the grass brush! It makes sense now...

Even though I didn't think too much about it, I wanted to duplicate the sentiments of their peaceful moments together as best I could, so I think your elegantly-put analysis is spot on, especially since I know I feel the same way about your writings. It makes me want to try for even more pictures of this nature in the future, and if/when I do I'll know who to thank.
