Hey Gunman,
I don't mean to make some huge issue of this, but I sent you a pm so you could change your artist's comments and be more specific about what's your art and what was inspiration and the work of another artist.
I'm pretty sure that everyone who sees this would find this informative:
----------------
not quite sure I get what your on about , the idea came from a foto ( about 6x4 in a travel mag) about the vat.city there was no info as to who where or when.
I thought it a challenge to magnify it into a 70x50cm job,which I did.
take care ,stay lucky Gunny
-----------------
The point is to give credit where credit is due. I always mention when I've used a photo reference, even if it's my own photo to distinguish art from my head from art from my eye.
Often in photography, you are taking a picture of someone else's work. So it's appropriate to take credit for your composition and exposure, etc., but not for the underlying art itself. You picture here is half your art. If you disclosed more information on how you made it, you wouldn't get misguided comments like "it is a beautiful scene you have created, superbly planned and executed" ... when the only part that belongs to you is "executed."
While there are comments on your skill and technique, there are a shitload that have NOTHING to do with you except your choice in art you wanted to copy (or reference or take inspiration from):
"Nice play with the perspectives, gives it a sense of awe, a sense of how little significant our lives are in the whole of things." ....
"This is stunning, I love the greyness, the lines/contrasts, pillars and arches. The entire design and creation is magical and beautiful, and the lone couple, so small within the walls."
"The scene beautifully composed"
"It is hard for a lot of artists to render spacious areas within the confines of a canvas, or whatever you are working on, but you definately showed us that it is possible."
" This one is amazing...not only for the artistic skills, but for the concept itself.
There they are, two tiny figures wandering around in a god-like palace...
Everything is so huge and you really are so small, no metter how high you can get."
Really now, you shouldn't take credit for other people's work. I don't see a single comment that says "nice rendering of a famous photograph" ... perhaps your fans aren't as exposed as I am, but I have seen the photograph you took this from. I can tell what's you and what is the photographer. It's all well and good that you tell me that you made this from a 6x4 photo in a magazine and created a 70x50cm airbrush from it....after I call you on it.... it would be better if you posted those details in the artist's comments before.
You'd probably agree with me that it's more honest and helpful to get people to comment on what you bring to the picture and not state the same things that you saw in it before you decided to do your own rendering, like "great concept... little people standing in the vast cathedral in the ray of light" ... etc.
Knowing that you used a reference photo... little people and ray of light and all.... doesn't take away from your piece of art, but it does place it in it's proper context. The photographer who took that photo is the one who framed the picture and planned the settting and took the photo at the decisive moment. Credit does belong to him for doing that.

Hi Gunny,
Thanks for the reply. Your work is powerful, and carries itself well. You should be proud.
I'm not familiar with the way DA runs it's print op, since I have my own mechanism. I didn't know that the artist funded the start up costs...
And, luck has nothing to do with it. I wear an Interceptor with my Mollie... I keep my eyes open.
(An Interceptor is a tactical vest made of Kevlar, that holds ceramic "plates", for those of you who wonder what I refer to. A Mollie is a load carrying system, kinda like a backpack.)

Anybody that would jump voluntarily out of a perfectly good airplane is an idiot. Welcome to the club! I'll put your membership card in the mail!
But when we do it, there isn't anything "super" about it... except planning on NOT getting "superimposed" right into the ground...
I got an extra rig whenever you're ready...
Take care!

Every once in a while...
You come across a piece that you have to go back to, over and over again...
This is one of those pieces. A veritable celestial train station, an embark point to anywhere... All you have to do is close your eyes, and step thru that archway...
Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Well controlled, epic, and full of drama.
I give it: :empty:
Gimme some s, I'm gonna be here a while!
Don't worry, I'll turn the lights out when I leave...
