Description This is the Redeemer Revolver, the Darkwatch's standard issue weapon. Its a .50 caliber pistol that can fire 24 times before the need to reload due to a complex mechanical system.

The Redeemer is an adaptation of the Colt "Peacemaker" though there is clearly no resemblance. The Darkwatch adapted the Revolver design into their own creation suited for thr Darkwatch's dark assignments.

The pistol uses a double action firing system. (after all it would suck to have to cock the hammer every time to shoot when your being attacked by hordes of Zombies) But for the sake of "Fanning" the revolver a single action mode was installed.

I played Darkwatch and loved it, but i still don't know how the magazine works precisely.

I highly enjoyed it myself, though the mechanical complexity to make the magazine work would be insane... So I'm working on an 'updated' version with an action inspired by the Webley Fosbery.

Yeah, pretty much!
However the DW also has some MUCH stronger firepower!

So when it says .50 caliber, is that the pistol caliber or the rifle caliber?

Well by "normal" standards, its Rifle. by "DW" standards, Pistol!

Oh good, because if it was the freaking huge .50 rifle caliber every time you shoot the gun would leap out of your hand.
Still, very cool design.

Well, those who use these weapons (Darkwatch Regulators) aren't exactly your "run of the mill" gunman. these guys are trained to handle these weapons, plus the Redeemer is a heavy gun too wich helps to lessen the recoil.

Yah, you have a point, but I was talking about if you use the rifle caliber used for military snipers and early anti-tank guns.
Actually, in the steam punk story that I am trying to publish, one of the main characters uses a slightly modified BFR with a .460 SandW magnum. [link]
The .460 is rifle ammunition and more powerful than the casulle used by Hellsing with less recoil

I'm working on a comic with pratically the same gun! Only I call it the "Long Shot" revolver. My version is designed to use high powered rifle rounds!

In my book I am still calling it the BFR, but instead of it meaning "Biggest Finest Revolver", it's going to mean "Big F*cking Revolver".

Well that it is! I wish I had one! Though I do prefer the S&W Schofeild!

But yeah, in my story it was a revolver produced in limited numbers. only 5 were made but due to their immence recoil they were recalled because of the injuries they caused, such as broken wrists and concusions! The strange thing is Only 4 were returned, the fith dissapeared! Also there is rumor of a sixth wich is believed to be the prototype!

At least thats how it goes in my story.

Well, in my story the main character is actually a "WHOLE" lot older than he appears. Gunsmiths in my story are not big enough to have the money to organize world wide standardized parts, the same goes to ammo. So when the gunsmith dies he doesn't make any more. Though there are at least twenty five BFR's in my story Vio's (one of the main characters) is the only person who kept his in working condition and asked a friend of his to custom make ammunition.

The entire story actually revolves around steam train engineers set in a post apocalyptic like steam punk like atmosphere. The story revolves around the crew of a train called the Divine Intervention

Looks like a Big Boy! I'd love to read it but I can't do that until I have a more reliable access to a computer.

The story I mentioned with the "Long Shot" revolver is in a similar boat to your story. It takes place in a simmilar enviornment, steriotype "Spegetti Western" atmosphear with a whole lot of Steam Punk! I call it "WEST WORLD".

Well, it "is" a Big Boy... though it's slightly modified
I hope to get my story published soon, maybe you might be able to find it in a book store next year, (though that's VERY positive thinking).

Yah, though sharing it with others is even better, like the little piece of insanity I call "God's Advocate".

Reminds me of some sudden insparation I had on re-inventing a hero called "The Shadow".

The original was an old radio show they used to play durring the 30's and 40's. Universal Studios made a movie about him starring Alec Baldwin. The Shadow is kinda like an early version of Batman except doesn't use gadjets but has powers of the mind and ca minipulate shadow.

My version would be MUCH darker. He'd be English for one and start off as a "Bad Guy" willingly accepting a curse to make him more powerful and stealthy. But after a sertant "tragety" he tries to repent by hunting down the frces of Evil using his curse of "The Shadow" and learning how to use the power of light as well.

Did I mention my version is over 4 and a 1/2 centuries old?
