these are the two newest additions to my collection. two polyphemus moths, a male (on the left) and a female (on the right)in person they have stunning, vibrant pink stripes on their wings, they are absolutely beautiful moths.
the female is about 5.5 inches across (her wings arent fully spread) and the male is a little under that. they are the biggest moths i have in my collection right now ^_^
i also found a cecropia moth but shes a little bit smashed up. e_e;
anywhoo. i really like this photo XD <3

This is and awesome picture! How'd you find a female and male!? And I've seen a female Black Witch Moth that was almost as big as those two together. >.>

moths and butterflies die so beautifully... i remember when i found a butterfly that died on the leaf of a tree. it happened to be one of the rare blue ones that you don't see all of the time.

well, there's a reason for it actually, it's because artificial light screws up their little radar system. at night, they use the moon to guide them, so whenever they see something bright they go nutso.
