I've made this kit as well. I have to ask did you find pinning the tail a real pain in the ass? I found it really frustrating myself.

if memory serves me correctly (i built and painted this kit over 10 years ago, i simply glued the tail into place with 2 part epoxy resin. The rest of hte kit is a combo of super glue gel, 2 part epoxy resin and milliput.
