Blue Destiny is a bit more than that... What with the EXAM system and all... But I do prefer the GM head styling of the first unit (pictured), instead o the Gundam heads Unit 02 and 03 got.

Gundam head only really fits when the color scheme is right for it.

also, since I'm almost a UC purist, I'm not entirely sure what the Exam system is.

The Blue Destiny story is one of those "Practically UC Canon" stories that hang around now and then. It's not officially, but it happens in different areas and doesn't impact the main UC plotline at all. The units have appeared in multiple Gundam games, and is generally one of the more well liked Side Stories.
