Description
I made the last minute decision to get into 's mini-contest :] --> [link]i sketched almost 3 different pokes (you can find'em here ).. anyway in the end i decided to submit this one XD
GOOBUMP, Fearful PKMN, Water/Ground. The name is the contraction of "Goose Bumps" in reference to its timorous nature... the "goose" part is also a reference to the "duck" part in gooeyduck and Gooeyduck-Goobump also share the "goo" syllable.
Height and Weight: 1'03", 9.0lbs.
ABILITY: PAVID: Recovers from status ailments if it uses the move DIG, but DIG takes a turn more.
POKEDEX ENTRY
GOOBUMP digs deep holes in the underwater sand with its two big shell-shaped hands and hides underground safe from dangers. While buried it takes out its extensible long snout and examines the environment thanks to its great sense of smell.
[EVOLVES IN/FROM: NONE.]
(not very) tiny description
In terms of concept, i originally considered to render the animal wich proposed to make the final pkmn resulting similar to a (guess what) duck, as the name suggests and as many others did... but i quite immediately changed my mind, because the animal itself has nothing to do with ducks, and as you can read in the wikipedia article [link] it is called in this way just for a transcription error.. The gooeyduck is actually a big clam wich hides itself under the sand and breath and eat by sucking water into its siphon so i just emphasized these aspects and consequently add a "character" to the pkmn
I didn't want to make a clearly dominant visual theme since the gooeyduck is so unique that mixing it heavily with other animals is quite unsuitable to me...However, in terms of design i (only slightly) referenced the "duck" theme, by adding a soft orange "beak"!
There's also a little bit of an elephant in it, with a proboscis and its hands/shell being the ears :}
EDIT: It didn't won :/ nevermind, i'll try the next contest!!!

Funnily enough, the German name for the geoduck actually is "elephant trunk clam".
