Description
Other entries i considered for 's contest.. the aim was to make a pkmn out of a real animal, a gooeyduck..I have to say that i love animals, but gooeyducks are quite horrible.. but i can see why jes choose this animal... it is so original and has a lot of aspects that can be emphasized and pokemonified.. i had hard time trying to decide which aspect i had to value the most and this is clearly shown in the pic above... three completely different concepts starting from the same inspiration.
1. it was meant to be a type, and as with most of the other entries, i played with the name and the pun within it.. i scrapped it because of the obvious output tough.
2. this was a type... i had a vision of this pkmn burying itself in the sand with just its head out to watch any potential danger.. if threatened it just closes the hard shell on its head and attacks with psychic powers... i scrapped it because i wasn't convinced with its design and there wasn't enough time to thinking properly about it... also it doesn't reference at all the ground element that is so strong in the real animal.
3. So i came up with this one wich is a ... this was the one i submitted to the contest and you can find all information here> [link]

I like these only thing is, why does the 3rd one look like an elephant instead of a duck or something like a mollusk?

To be honest, i don't remember.. i was trying to avoid predictable concepts since these were for a contest and i was looking for an original and unusued idea. I maybe had gone too far

it's a bit of a stretch...but hey, in the world of Pokemon, a fish turns into an octopus and a puny carp turns into a monstrous sea dragon...anything is possible XD

This a personal thought rather than a reply, but i always wondered: must the typing and the appearance of a pokemon match? I mean: it is ok to do, like, a water fox (which looks like -and probably is- a total random combination) or a fox must preferably be a fire/electric/normal type, or any type which go with the idea of a fox? :/ I dunno if I’ve been clear.. I’m a fan of the second option, but sometimes I notice that a seemingly random combination can result in an excellent design, e.g. [link]

well...Vaporeon sorta looks like an aqua fox...I guess...I think that it helps. We need some more different typings...they open up the possibilities of new Pokemon even further...just make it seem believable

Thank you! I like it too, although it was too similar to many other entries and specifically said to try making design different from others.
