YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. SOMEONE FINALLY REALIZES THIS. Not just the gliding, but the using it to fight, the agility, the strange poses - standing on the staff, the "flying around," and even Jack's weird ice explosion = Avatar State.
I have this weird headcanon that Aang taught Jack how to use it.

Not of hiccup with a flying-squirral-bat-wing-glider... Thing but there are official pictures of hiccup and astrid in httyd 2 heres the links: [link] that gives quite a few pictures . I think astrid is pretty and Hiccup+puberty+flaming sword+leather= asdfghjkl!!
But don't worry he hasn't changed in personality he's just braver. Kind of mandatory... Some people don't like the change though and thats understandable... But I like it

Seen it now! I thought it could have been better, mostly because the story seemed to complex and intricate to fit in the span of a roughly two hour movie. There was SOOOOOOOOOO much more that I wanted to see, or things I wanted explained and delved into, so it wasn't that the story and characters weren't good, it's that they were REALLY good and I wanted MORE time for them to get fleshed out. Specifically, the back story with Jack and his little sister. I feel like that should have played a bigger role in the movie. Still, I absolutely loved the opening scene.
