"In love?"

The black hedgehog's red eyes flickered a glance at Amy. Her eyes were glued to the sky, taking in the vast scatter of twinkling stars and shining ribbons of color that stretched overhead. The starlight illuminated her features in a soft lilac hue, it contrasted with the dark purple shadows that were left empty of the light's touch.
"Yeah! In love!" She replied with a small smile on her lips. Shadow tilted his head slightly, not understanding what she mean't by this. In love with the stars? But the stars couldn't possibly be capable of feeling emotion, they were just burning balls of hydrogen and helium. Amy guessed that Shadow didn't get what she was saying, so she continued.
"If you think about it...we're so.../small/ compared to the universe. There is so much out there, so many things we don't know, and we're still trying to learn more about our planet. We have been for thousands of years...and yet the universe has been around for so much longer! There are billions of galaxies out there with billions of stars, and all those stars have planets like ours orbiting them, but who knows if they have life on them like our's does? It's so...so...infinite. There are endless possibilities out there! It's just...just a beautiful thing to think about. We're so precious and rare to even be existing. What were the chances of me being here? Of you being here? It's just...I don't know...whenever I think about it, I just feel so lucky...and I'm probably rambling again- Sorry!"

Amy cut off her rant, realizing how long she had been talking. She snuck an embarrassed glance at Shadow, expecting him to be looking at her with another one of his criticizing expressions. But to her surprise, he was staring up at the sky, arms crossed with an unreadable expression. She tilted her head a little and bit down softly on her bottom lip.

"...I see." came Shadow's reply.
Amy blinked, staring at him for a moment before looking back up at the stars. Shadow thought about what Amy said, studying the meaning behind it. It was true. The possibilities of life are endless. The universe and all it's vast infinity truly is a beautiful thing. He glanced at Amy from the corner of his eye, watching her be lost in the expanse of stars in the indigo sky. He couldn't help but form a small smile on his lips as his heart pooled with a warm, tugging emotion.

It was like feeling in love.
