i'm such a procrastinator.mostly actionscript.
Edit: ~smurfmx convinced me to download flash mx2004.... so, just playing around a bit with it.
it only lags when you move the mouse within the movie... so, just stop doing that and it'll lag less.

Yeah, the code seems to slow down the computer quite a bit, I should probably try to make it more efficient somehow =\

yeah....the actual code of the movie is commented all over the place. here's the kicker. kirupa, natzke, and this DA person called volcanic penguin (i think) all had the exact same solution to creating this effect.
there were others online too. it's a really simple code that re-traces a line between an old (x,y) and a new one, with a dampening effect added for fun. i suck at API stuff, so i took a shitload of tutorials that all basically said the same thing. props to everyone that writes good tutorials.
a pastiche of code from several tutorial sources : [link] , www.lionbichstudios, [link] , volcanic penguin, etc.
just dump this in a movie clip.

I reduced the lag a bit... You can change the colour of the boxes no need for a blue bg.
