Description Okay, here's a tutorial on rotationals. This tutorial should make you able to create pieces like: Adagio , Hymn and Psyche

Special thanks goes to =TwilightAmbiance who assisted me during the live version of this tutorial in the *Apophysis chatroom.

Enjoy and if you like, leave a comment please.

This tutorial is great. It does take a bit of a learning curve to get results you want, but this definitely cuts down on alot of the self-learning time, especially with the 'basic flame' that ya can just click on and tweak. Thanks for posting it, and I've already completed two images and posted them using the ideas in the tut:

you got the smoothness right! try to use other colours also, you'll see it 'll give nice results

keep up!

I loved the idea behind this type of fractal, and the tutorial was great. Here's what I made with it: [link]

Thanks very much.

Thanks very much!! It was very helpful... this is where I learned to make use of more than 5-6 transform triangles

I managed to figure this style out a long time ago, but never achieved this level of grace with them. I love that they don't rely on any new plugins or stuff like that...it's all from the soul of the artist to get wonderful flames from this style.

EXACTLY! that's what i love about rotationals so much, they're all about the essence: creating beautiful pieces of work;

I feel like people just try to figure out the new plugins before other people do, so it's like a race...I much prefer the grace of a well-laid out fractal using the older variations.

I'd love to try this out, but for some reason the starter pack of flames isn't working. I opened them in Apophysis but it just stays on my previous flame. Sorry if this is a stupid question; I'm rather new to the program.

Though you've got amazing renders, I've got to say.

Thanks so much for making this public! I couldn't make the chat over the weekend and was quite sad about that. But now I can play! Still learning this style, obviously, but any tips you might have would be welcome. Here are the first few things I've managed to come up with:

Amazing, I've been desperately trying to find some cool simple tutorials to progress my work with apophysis. Until now, I haven't really produced any fully complex fractals, and then tweaked and developed them in photoshop.

The thought of having to code everything put me off, but this is ace. I only just got the 3D hack today, so there could be a lot of experimentation.

Once again, thank you!

Is there any possibility of a .zip file for this instead of .rar? I can't open those.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Halcyon83 In reply to LadyLyonnesse [2007-10-21 07:05:58 +0000 UTC]

you can download winrar for free, it should be able to open this file

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyLyonnesse In reply to Halcyon83 [2007-10-21 09:29:06 +0000 UTC]

The program is only free for 40 days, after that there is a charge of $30Cnd. As most downloads from dA are in .zip file format, winrar isn't worth the cost.
Thanks anyway.
