Here's a pretty picture I snapped of the Washington Monument and the reflection pond in front of it. This was taken from the foot of the Lincoln Memorial steps. I really love the early mornings in Fallout 3, the yellow lighting and extensive use of bloom can make even the worst post-nuclear war-zone look beautiful.I especially liked this scene for multiple reasons. The light shining through the broken away chunks of the monument and the perfect reflection in the pond. I also liked seeing the pile of random debris in front of the pond, really sets the mood.
You'll be seeing a few pictures of this monument, it's one of the big reference points in the game world, if you have your settings high enough you can see it from about half-way away into the game world just sticking out from behind mountains and such. I gotta tell you, when you finally make it into DC and finally make it TO the monument itself after seeing it at a distance for so long.. it feels really accomplishing.

1600x1200 custom high settings, no vsync.

ah yes i remember this place, last i remembered the area around the reflecting pool is lined with mines.

Nope, no mines.. just radiation.. I mean a LOT. It's still just 1 rad a second but you have to stay WAY far away from the edges of the pool.

but i thought there were mines there. anyways i just killed the brotherhood of steel guys to get supplies and thats it

Nope.. I think the only places with mines are of course Minefield, and a few raider camps. Also there's that one lady looking for the Declaration of Independence who put a bunch in the main room.

no trust me there were mines around the reflecting pool, im guessing its only on one side. trust me i know these things cause i played and finished FA3 3 times already, 4 if i continue on my current game
