Description
I've been watching a lot of The Tudors lately, so I was in the mood for fancy clothesOH, and about their expressions, I really find them funny because I could totes see them carting each other around like 'yeah, I'm married to him' or 'I'm married to Astrid Haddock , hee'. lmfao. I love these guys so much.
EDIT: GOD, I had to erase some stuff because I always forget something. Changed file, so it looks better now
Texture by art (c) me, Hiccup and Astrid (c) DreamWorks
I gotta get to those full-body things for the group project... D:

Astrid's outfit reminds me of Zelda and a Assassin outfit from Assassin's Creed, because of the red and whiteΒ colors. Red cape is making me think of Thor for some reason...
Why am I thinking about Loki's outfit for Hiccup, because of the green colors?
Beautiful and nice artwork... I like it.
Such a great couple between Astrid and Hiccup...

Yeah, I can really see Astrid having hidden weapons up her sleeve, behind her cloak, strapped to her back, disguised as jewellery (dagger necklace! Yay!) to spear anyone she deems a threat *cough* Snotlout*cough*!
anyways, great job here, this is really like how I imagined them.

I can totally imagine that Astrid has got a few hidden weapons on her. Why? Because Astrid is beast and would fortify everything if given the chance . But alas common norm dictates she wear a dress and come unarmed to whatever function they are at. Does Astrid listen? No.Β

A very nice image of tweens Hiccup and Astrid. Yeah, I imagine that personalities like their would be 'in your face' (Astrid) or super-bashful (Hiccup) about being a married couple.
Good job at remembering that married Viking ladies don't wear those head-bands.

I tried so hard! It took forrreeeeveeerrr to get Hiccup's details in, with all those swirls and stuff. But, the end product turned out really nice and I'm proud of it, so I'm so glad you like it!

AGHH LOVE THIS! I understand how the Tudors can get you into a fancy clothed mood and it's kind of refreshing to see them so facy AND Astrid dress seems so authentic and real and she looks good as does Hiccup. He looks handsome as well I imagine them looking dressed up in my stories for formal celebrations too. I might use this for head-canon now if I ever describe what they wear lol. Beautiful, insta-fave!

Whoop! Thanks so much! I really tried to make Astrid authentic from what I know about Viking women's styles, and Hiccup's clothing is inspired from what I also know about Medieval men's styles too from the English court. (Braveheart has lots, lolol).

Trying is the best thing one can do! Trust me, I have tried SO hard in all the years I've been drawing. Seriously, people who don't try are just not cool enough. just saying.

I think myself Hiccup would dress himself like that. I think he likes to dress up every once in a while- a lot of guys do- they just don't like it when it's over the top- but the Norse styles are just perfect for guys to strut their stuff and enjoy dressing up. I think he and Astrid don't dress up a lot, but they probably have fun going to events like this and enjoy giving each other pointers and suggestions on how to look good.

I totally agree because he does have the privileges of nice clothing given he's the chief's son and has quiet a bit to spend on what he needs. But I just thought that Astrid would set out his outfits like this one because he would have no idea what he was going, lmfao.

I like this very much. You've got a nice blend of authentic Norse clothing along with your own twist on it. I love the coloring, too. And so nice that Astrid is joining with Hiccup's clan through marriage by adapting her clothing to have more green in it. It's still Astrid's blue, but she has blended Hiccup's family green color into it. Also, I love seeing Astrid has a ladylike side, too. I always saw her - and Hiccup- that way. They can both be the warrior types- she with the sword, he with his mind- and they both love the rugged outdoor life, but they also love those moments where they can be more formally dressed, too- it doesn't happen on Berk, so it's fun when it does.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you noticed the Norse traits I added to their clothing, especially Astrid's pendants on her collarbone. And I actually sighed a giant sigh of relief when you said you could see Astrid being a bit lady-like because I see it too, but I don't happen to find it around much, but she does have that regal sense to her, I think. However, the sword you see is Hiccup's because in my fic he does learn how to use a sword like he does in the books.
Gah! Thank you so much for commenting! I love it. I don't get much, so it's truly great when I get them

You are welcome. Your picture just made sense to me. I happen to picture Astrid as a NOrdic girl, and my lady friends from the Nordic countries have very strong, confident and self sufficient natures- they love getting out enjoying the active life and nature, but they are equally as much ladies. They love dressing up and jewels and pretty dresses, and Scandinavia has lots of holidays where people can dress up (unlike most countries, the guys like to dress up, too- because guy outfits are just that nice blend of strong guy who has a softer side too)
I could see Hiccup using a sword. I know a lot of fanfics show him as an archer, and I could see him as this- but any archer worth his salt also learns how to do some close up fighting- and there are swords made for a more slender man like Hiccup. He uses the bow for distance fighting but the sword for close fighting. And don't forget Toothless- he's part of fighting by HIccup's side! They protect each other- and Astrid, too. And she protects them.
And I know the feeling on comments. I am surprised you don't get more comments, but it is the same for me. I don't get a lot of comments, either, and I think that's because I use non digital methods and my own style. I don't really draw to get comments but rather to get those comments that give me tips on being a better artist. And I am so grateful for all who support my art.
I think it's the sign of someone who is daring to be a bit different. You're original- so be proud of that. Keep being original and the comments will come as more people discover your style.

You are so unbelievably kind. I have never met any one on dA with as much kindness as you and I really appreciate it and I value everything you have told me!
And I love the idea of Hiccup as an archer because it's the least combative of weapons and I do not by any means believe he would actually use weapons against any living, sentient being. He's too kind! Astrid would totally fight for both Hiccup and Toothless, haha. But really, I don't mind not getting comments because I post what I want and I don't care if anyone else thinks different, and I'm glad you agree with me!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments and input! It's awesome!
