Worldbuilding for my story.

So Hellbound has 4 Realms, one of which is Earth. The other 3 make up the Afterlife.

How does it work, then?

In the beginning, there was the Eternal Light, God, who created Heaven.

There was also the Neverending Darkness, the Nightmare King, who created the Abyss.

In the natural cycle of life, mortals would be born with a soul, which, upon Death, would go to Heaven to be reborn as an (nigh) immortal Angel or into the Abyss where it would be devoured by the Shadows.

After a failed rebellion in Heaven, Lucifer was cast out and founded a new realm, that seeks to recruit humans souls throught pacts and suchlike trickery.

Heaven is Virtue and Righteousness.

Though it won't surprise you that Angels tend to be a tad arrogant, they still seek to do good and protect humans from the relentless influence of Hell and the Abyss. But their interferences must not be ill-conceived, for the guiding light of an angels tends to draw in the Shadows not unlike moths to a flame. But very much unlike moths, the Shadows may just devour the flame and cause even greater havoc than the angel sought to prevent.

The Abyss is the unknown, eldritch Darkness beyond human understanding.

It's hard to describe, much less comprehend the endless shadows, for even glimpses beyond may leave you with a fractured mind.

Such is the fate of those who even reach the cusp of the boundless viciousness that seeks to extinguish the stars.

Hell is Corruption and the pinacle of human vice.

No one can truly grasp the Abyss, but everyone has their own idea of Hell. It's a place that starts in your mind before it manifests slowly into reality. The greedy desire one may feel towards a neighbor's possessions, his wife or his accomplishments. The great many pains one may seek to inflict upon others for any and all perceived slights.

Truly, most humans have damned themselves before they ever shook a demons hand or set foot into Hell.
