Description
Ok then here is a tutorial for Mandelbulb 3D on how to make the "Tuber" pieces I've been doing lately. Hope you have fun and let me know if you have any trouble. Click the download link on the right to download the tutorial! It's a zipped html file so unzip it, click on the html file and have some fun!The version linked to below is a new version. The version the tut was written with is no longer available as far as I know. So some of the interface will be slightly different. Note me if you have trouble with it.
You can get Mandelbulb 3D by following this link!www.fractalforums.com/mandelbu…

Sometimes there is a form there, you just have to zoom way out and/or put fov to zero. More often though, the formulas just aren't playing well with each other. If you add a formula and just get 'the sun' or 'blue sky' thing, you either need to get rid of that formula and try another, or try tweaking the values of it and the other formulas as well. There is no set magical thing to do, you just have to keep playing. If amazing box is one of your formulas, often you can just adjust the scale value up or down and something will appear, but basically you just have to keep playing with formula values, or try another formula...

Hi
saw some of mandelbulb 3d images on soulabode's page - okay, gotta try this .... I downloaded the software, downloaded your tutorial 2 - is there a beginning tut around? I hate to be a dunce, but I always ask first.
Thank you for providing this and any other tutorials you create...always helps to have someone with a clue and a flashlight...so to speak. Love your work, grand and gorgeous.

Yes, here's links to the three tutorials I wrote. Depending on what version of mandelbulb3d you have, some of the buttons and tabs have been moved around a bit. If you can't find something in the tuts, feel free to ask, I'm glad to help!

Hello,
Im going through your first tutorial and well... same problem here. Can't find FOVy and some other things which seem to be missing from my interface. I do realise its propably me being dumb. Thanks for tutorials. I've just stumbled upon them by accident, this is totally new thing to me, its amazeing!

The tutorial was written using MB3D version 167. In the second image in the tutorial, on the right hand side of the image the Camera button is circled in red. Click it and the FOVy will appear below that bunch of tabs. The same goes for versions 168 and 1691. In previous versions of MB3D, the FOVy field is right below the Zoom field, the seventh row of number fields from the top right of the main window.

Thanks. If you play with the color sliders in the lighting panel you should be able to get rid of that color shift.

Hello, I am trying this tutorial, and I found the parameters at the link you say, but this is not really clear to me,
how to get the params in this programm.
opened mandabulb different times, add the numbers like in your screen, but it still does not work. the only thing I got is a small bulb.
Could you explain this again, (maybe it is because I own a mac)

HalTenny In reply to rijkjavik [2011-02-02 14:27:10 +0000 UTC]
I don't know much about a mac but I'll try to help. You seem to have found the parameters OK so now you have to copy them. You have to select all the text right from - Mandelbulb3Dv16{ - and all the way to the end where it looks like this - ...} In Windows you highlight the text and hit the control and c keys to copy. On a mac I think you highlight the text and hit the command (Apple logo on old Macs, propeller logo on new Macs) and c keys. Now the text is on your clipboard. Open mandelbulb 3D v167. At the top of the main window are a bunch of icons. Click the fifth icon and that will insert the parameters into MB3D. (In version 168 it is the sixth icon.) Click on the Calculate 3D button. You should have a fuzzy box. Then just follow the tutprial. Let me know if you're still having trouble!

Thank you very much,You are very kind. I know what I did wrong, I did not copy the word mandelbulb with it, just from sign to sign. and then you got a small bulb, and now I have the fuzzy square.
Thanks again.
Blessings

Hal,
You did a great job on the tutes, but I have one small problem, probably from not being the brightest bulb in the socket...or the Mandel, come to think of it.
You made me see a lot of what I was not seeing (virtually everything) but I can't find FOVy or rotation or some of the other things you mention, which brought me up against a wall.
I'm using v168, which seems to be the right one. Any suggestions? 'Cause I'll tell ya, of all the tutes I've been downloading as I try to learn fractals, yours are among the best. I can even understand them.
So, with appreciation for what you've done and hope for what's to come:
Thanks, Michael

HalTenny In reply to mseidman [2011-01-26 19:03:05 +0000 UTC]
Appreciate that Michael! The FOVy is under the Camera tab. You'll find the Camera tab in the middle of the right side of the main window. The rotation tools are on the bottom of the main window. There are four sets of tools there. First is a zoom tool, then the move tool, then a a tool for cutting along the Z axis, and lastly are the rotation tools. Two curved arrows, one above the other are used to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise. So if you rotate 180 degrees in either direction, your piece will be turned upside down. Those two arrows keep the same view point. Then there's a set of four arrows pointing up, down, left and right. When you use these arrows, they rotate the entire 3d space! So if you are looking at the front of a box, and rotate it 180 degrees in any direction, you will then be looking at the back of the box! I'm planing another tutorial on the use of tools (like cutting). I'll get it done eventually! Hope this helped for now.
