Description Two newly commissioned Iraqi lieutenants hug after they graduated from the year-long academy.

It was hard to find a dry Iraqi eye in the whole place after they graduated. Overcome with emotion, most of the lieutenants starting crying - some balling.

Reminds me of when I graduated Survival School. Ninety-nine percent of Americans will never know what certain soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines have gone through for the U.S.

yep most people won't understand what they go through
I don't even fully understand but I know a little since my
grandad used to tell me stories how horrible he felt and how
it was the worst time of his life. He said when he came
home he launched himself on the ground and just bawled
and kissed the ground a million times. I always felt mature
and excited when he told me them, but now I'm sad to even
had heard them.
Lovely photo shows how thankful they are it's over and how relieved
they made it.

i guess you are safely back home now. this is a moving photo, and shows a heart so big most people think soldiers don't have. you should have seen photoso of one of our soldiers on a mission in Sahara, he really did help people over there - maybe just a few of them, but was welcomed in their homes which is rare occasion.
i wish you best luck, and although you like to go on missions to foreign countries, and meet different cultures, i do hope that soon there will e no need for such missions and we can all live in peace. keep safe.

my friend's dad is off in iraq at the moment and will be back in only a few weeks ( he was air traffic control in one of the major airports)
i guess it's going to be like that when his company returns as well.

keep up the amazing photos!

There were so many Iraqis on the floor at that time, I was bumping into everyone with my camera bag and body armor. I was taking pictures of anyone who would looked emotional. I'm happy one of them turned out. It got so hot on the floor because of everyone there, that I sweat clean through my uniform. It was nasty.
