My daughter looking at an Art book. She's always loved my own paintings more than she found in books on the history of art. And I tell you, she's been my harshest critic, always observing (if my painting wasn't perfect), such mistakes in my painting as "Pop, the eye is not right." Etc. You work on a painting and think it's perfect. Then your daughter points out a mistake. Well, I'd take her advise and go back in to correct it, until she says, "Yes, now it's right." Not always. Often she would say "it's just right."

Jasmin,

Your family can be tough on you. But they see things you don't see, or are only just seeing right. And since they love you, it's your family members who will want you to succeed.

I love the light and warmth in this. You know, the whole scene, the girl, the curtains, her expression and her fingers turning the page, are perfectly possible and quite realistic, and yet the light and atmosphere surrounding all that is out of this world. Or maybe something you see rarely and most often only through art .
Oh, and it must be lovely to have a critic like her, and quite helpful too .

Billy,

But it is. Watercolor doesn't have to be wet. This painting has some wet washes, but most of it is done in dry-brush.

Thank you,

Robert

I honestly never really thought of using watercolor as drybrush, you use it well. I'm just trying to get into painting, having a hard time finding time in college.

The lighting in this is great!!- Very complimentary with the subtle blues and warm oranges. Everybody needs a critic like her, that doesn't candy coat their critiques-

Yes. A critic who see with her own eyes. Got me through many a not-quite-right painting.

Thank you.
