At a friend's house in '74 his violin was on the carpet. I took out my colored pencils and worked about an hour on this. Not paying attention to the actual color of the violin I worked pretty fast. This is one of the first color attempts I made, having decided to stay with the pencil until I mastered drawing first. I even signed it Chuck Tracy as that's what I was used to: my father had the same first and middle name so my parents and siblings always called me "Chuck". See [link]

My friend owns it. I asked him to send me a file of it and this is the best he can do. He's got a PhD in mathematics from Princeton in 1972, but doesn't know how to scan. I've just re-discovered this. Will see if I can guide him via email on scanning and replace this with a larger file.
