Description
One of many (fan!) vehicle concepts I did for Planetside. Note that this concept makes use of in game renders of the Empire Specific (ES) Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), respectively the Vanguard and Prowler. Again of course, it isn't official concept art.As a tank destroyer, the Vanquish's main role is obvious: to kill heavily armoured vehicles, particularly the slow ones. For this purpose its gunner controls a 200mm cannon, which would instantly become the most powerful cannon in game (save the Flail, obviously).
However, there are multiple downsides to it.
The cannon can only be rotated up to about 45 degrees, while horizontally being even further limited as its turret is more or less fixed. It means the driver will have to aid the aim of the gunner by orienting the tank towards the target.
On top of that, when firing while undeployed, the backlash of the 200mm provides a significant cone of fire bloom (reduces accuracy).
The cannon's splash radius would not exceed that of a 100mm shell and differs mostly in its damage towards armoured objects. Combine the two facts above and you'll notice it would not be a better infantry killer than the other tanks in game. Quite the contrary.
On the other hand, it also features a few additional perks, mainly suited for defense. Deploying should be possible within a second and would be much like the effect of deploying a Terran Republic MAX unit: increased rate of fire and accuracy at the cost of mobility. Its front side is extra armored (increased damage absorption) allowing it to take more punishment from the front.
The Vanquish would also have a higher reverse speed than other tanks, allowing it to fire while retreating (of course... mind the friendly infantry behind you...).
It would therefore be very suited for attacking (or defending) bridgeheads and bases, as well as taking out (crouched) BFRs and (TRAP) fortifications.
You will probably have noted that this unit would be best taken out by flanking it or engaging it with air units. Light, fast units shouldn't have many problems against the Vanquish, considering their agility. Meanwhile, its strengths lies in defense, especially of natural chokepoints.
To obtain a Vanquish, one would require a link to a Tech Plant or get it from Sanctuary.

Amusingly enough, did you know that in the Warhammer 40k universe, the the anti-tank version of the Imperial main battle tank is called the "Vanquisher"? Notable for its large main cannon...

Hmm, no I didn't, named it Vanquish since it's based on a Vanguard frame where the Vanguard is the New Conglomerate's main battle tank.
