I love this movie! I made my little cousins watch it at some point and they hated it...that made me sad.
Its such a shame they don't make movies like this anymore.

It certainly is a different kind of children's flick. Even for its time, it didn't get much attention. Even so, I loved it as a kid. Give your cousins a couple more years, then show it to them again. Once they're older, I bet that they'll appreciate it more.

You are probably right. I guess the reason they didn't like it so much is that there was a lot of possible scary and dark scenes with the rats if I remember correctly.

This is one of those stories that you need to grow with. It was marketed as a children's film, and it certainly has a child's level of imagination, but its dark themes and interpretation are more suited to a mature audience -- therefore making it one of those films that you are overwhelmed to see as a child, and the more time passes the more you learn to love and understand this story as you yourself grow. It's nothing short of a masterpiece, but it's not a commercial film. It's the greatest tribute to the power of animation ever made.

Oooo, that's gorgeous! I just got an old VHS of "NIMH" (I refuse to get the DVD because the cover art is hideous) and god, the movie's just as amazing as I remember.

Beautiful illustration! I absolutely love your use of color! It's an almost ominous yellow lighting.
Really wondering movie.
