Description
In my GD class we were told to write a few paragraphs about ourselves, then list some of our traits. We were to create a personal mark (sort of like a logo) that represents us. This is my process book describing how I achieved my final mark as well as 2 applications for the mark. My mark is representative of the contradiction between the fact that I love nature, but also spend a lot of time with computers and enjoy mechanical processes. The book was printed on heavy, Ultra-bright, uncoated Cardstock and was wire-binded.Page by Page break-down:
1)Cover, Grid-paper background with a few paragraphs about myself.
2)Traits
3)Imagery - we were to pick several images from sources that we feel represent our traits.
4)Combinations - spread of initial marks and combinations of imagery
5)Selected Root Mark - chosen mark- Problem: too symmetrical
6)Variations - spread of variations to correct problem.
7)Final Mark & First Application - Left is the chosen mark and right is an application of the mark, I printed them as stickers and put 1 on my sketchbook.
8)2nd Application & Back Cover - 2nd application was as a t-shirt.

Interesting idea. The first thing I would say is that I do think that being a designer you could have given this book much more visual impact. You have a lot of sketches and comps that could have made for a cool process book above and beyond just the ideas in a grid on a blank page. This is your personal mark and I know it's only a process book but it could turn into a nice portfolio piece to show that you do think about what you are doing before jumping on the computer.
As for the mark it does represent you apprently but what does it say about you as a designer? I'm looking at a stylized tree what am I suppose to think without the explaination not to say that you didn't do this but do some research and see what other designers have done for a personal mark. An example of one on dA (not to say it's good or bad) check out $liquisoft 's site [link] his mark is pretty obvious but there are other that use symbols but the approach is different.
