Description I know I'm starting to get up on a bit of a soap box recently, but I just get so tired of people getting so bullied by haters around here. I'm not a social network kind of person (I never check my MySpace, and I don't even have a Facebook), so when by brother first told me about DeviantArt, I had never heard of anything like it. Art is my passion in life - be it drawing, painting, having fun with my tablet, writing fanfiction, or whatever. It's such a freeing and uplifting thing. And when I found out that there is a place where everyone can get together to express their love of art - of any kind of art - It sounded like a dream.

Since joining the DeviantArt family, I have met some wonderful, talented, imaginative people. I have also met some kind, generous, and caring people. Watchers - I love each and every one of you, and I thank you for thinking I am worthy of your interest. To those whom I am watching - I love seeing your amazing artwork. Some of you are less experienced than others, and some of you have to work harder to produce a good piece of artwork, but it has been a real joy to watch you grow as artists. DeviantArt has been an amazing experience for me, and I hope it is something I will be a part of for the rest of my life.

That's why it tears me apart to see people on here who have nothing better to do than post hateful comments about artwork that doesn't measure up to their standards, or happens to portray a view different from their own. Critique is one thing. I'm fine with that - we need insightful and patient critique. It helps us grow and makes us better artists. But dissing someone's work just for the sake of dissing it only causes hurt feelings.

I've been extremely lucky. So far, I haven't had any haters to speak of. But it really raises my ire when I see it happening to someone else. Flamers and trolls, if you don't like someone's art, just leave it alone. Nobody's making you look at it.

To artists who are always being flamed, this stamp is for you, my dear friends. If someone doesn't have enough culture to be civilized in their comments, then they're not worth your time.

Feel free to use this stamp however you like. Just be sure to credit me where appropriate.

Also, a special thank-you to $zilla774 for making such a great template for me to use.

If you don't want me to say thank you, then don't fave it. If you accuse me of not looking at your profile, I will turn right around and accuse you of not reading the artist comments.

Someone dissed my story because "it was rushed the character isn't likeable and the setting is bad"

Its not rushed, I worked really hard on it. It was only 3 pages on Google drive because thats how it's always been for me. Kamille gets MUCH more likeable as the story goes on, she saves someones LIFE in the third chapter. And how is an IMP LAIR a bad setting? Who died and made him an English teacher?

It's a mistake saying hate and hatred is a motivation to succeed, in my opinion that's a load of crap. Patient and mature critique is the way to go. Hate just brings all the negativity rudeness and pour it out on others who are desperately trying their best on what they love to do and what they worked so hard at. Nobody deserves hate, but they deserve some hard critique and some reasons on what they should improve on, it's not as bad as flaming or bashing. Just to summarize...hate indeed is a waste of time, if you dislike something in a way you get very angry with rage just ignore it and forget about. It's not easy to forget but just keep trying for the sake of yourself, it would hurt you more than it hurts the person you are trying to hate. And sometimes they wouldn't care if you're hating on them so you're just wasting your time.

People need to get over things, whether its a hated character, shipping, game, movie or whatever. People comment way too much about that stuff instead of what the picture looks like.

Also will work:

"If you don't like my comment
that's your problem
not mine
Don't reply to it
And have a nice day"

Freedom for all, you are allowed to upload freely, others are free to comment as well
If you don't like a comment you can ignore it too, or just disable comments
I don't want to flame, I just want to point that your stamp is like a big "SHUT UP IF U ARE GONNA MAKE ME BUTTHURT ", I can't stand people that ask others to shut up, instead of that, learn to take easy opinions of people that you will never meet

I couldn't agree with this more....I've noticed the same exact thing about this site. It's a wonderful site and has a lot of kind and friendly people, but there always has to be some haters around to bring you down.

I think anyone can relate to this stamp.

I see a lot of people who are sticking up for others who are being "flamed for no good reason." I have to say (and this is not in disagreement with this stamp) - I can't think of a good reason for flaming someone's art. If you don't like it, then don't comment at all or post a thoughtful critique with suggestions for improvements (ignoring the flame responses from the whiners who can't take criticism - especially the ones who think they are mucho grande king of art when they're really doodles on notebook paper). Even art that goes against the ToS doesn't provide you with an excuse to flame it; if you see a picture that violates the ToS (stolen, pornographic, whatever), then politely ask the deviant to remove it. If that deviant doesn't remove it, simply report the piece and move on, even if the deviant is rude towards you. (Block the deviant if the rudeness spills over onto your page or targets you in the forums.)

I like this stamp a lot though it makes no sense why someone would fave something they don't like. I know stamps are small but "Don't comment" should fit.

Fave/comment/click, I think any of them would work there. The main idea is that nobody is obligated to say they like something. But thanks for the input

All you'd have to do is copy the thumbcode (on the right, in the "share" section) and paste it wherever you want to put it. Unfortunately, though, only subscribers are able to do it.

I don't get most of those fetishes, but as long as stuff follows the ToS, I don't see the use of ranting about it.

Exactly. I mean, I know the whole "don't like, don't look" thing doesn't completely work. There's certain stuff that just shouldn't be on DeviantArt (or elsewhere). But it's still a pretty good rule of thumb.

My artwork per se, has never had any direct flaming, but sometimes I get flamed for comments I leave. On the occason someone replies to something I said, and more often than not, my comments are just fact-staters, or "yay, I likes your art!" and it's those comments that get replied to with an argument that I had no intention of getting into.

The reason people probably flame about it is either because it sparks controversy, has fanart about something other people think is stupid, or contains things people aren't comfortable about/hate. Or they're just lookin for an outlet for their anger x3

HarmonicSonic In reply to Izzyhime [2010-11-19 01:49:32 +0000 UTC]

True enough. That doesn't make flaming any less annoying, though. But I think I see your point.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Izzyhime In reply to HarmonicSonic [2010-11-19 01:57:14 +0000 UTC]

xD I didn't say it to justify flaming, trolling, being hateful/rude/spiteful. I mean, it is common sense to keep your mouth shut before starting drama, but people don't excersize this too well, especially on the internet, where you have the saftey of being unknown.
I mean, I could go ahead and flame every sonic er, artist, and continue to blather about my opinion but it's not gonna change how they look at it. It's just gonna bring drama and pointless arguing xD
People act like immature idiots on the internet sometimes. I'm using this stamp because I totally agree with this whole fact.
