The earliest memories Jahani could put together has always been the Dens and the Caretakers that had always watched over her and the other orphan cubs. No matter how hard she tried she just couldn’t remember her parents. Not who they were or what they even looked like.

When Jahani learned to speak she would always ask about them to the Caretakers, begging for anything they could share with her. Something to help her paint a mental image in her head but they never did. She was able to worm something once out of them about her mother. From her understanding, of the explanation, Her mother had disappeared a few days after giving birth. Not words of goodbye, no instructions for the care of her cub, just there one moment and gone the next.

Jahani would sometimes catch bits of conversations when they thought she wasn’t there or was sleeping. From what she got it made her father sound like a bad guy so this upset Jahani for a long time. Her behavior and friendships suffered for it as she thought maybe that was why her mother left cause of her father.

One night Jahani was being super difficult, refusing to go to bed and just wanting to be left alone. One of the younger Cartakers got really upset and said "It's a good thing your Parents aren't here to see what a little monster you've become!" The young worker gasped and tried to apologize for what she said as some of the older ones were asking what was wrong with her.

She ran, slipping past all the Caretakers who had tried to stop her. Jahani ran as fast as she could to the outer part of the dens and entered what she thought was an empty den till she tripped over a paw. Thinking the worst she just lay there and cried excepting her fate. An adult paw patted and smoothed her tussled mane, making soft, “There, there.” It’s ok.” “Shhh”

Once calmed she noticed an older lioness and a mother with her cubs. They all were rather skinning. The older lioness was the soothing voice and gentle paw that helped her settle down. Jahani apologized for everything and tried to leave. The old lady asked her what was wrong and it was then Jahani broke down again and told the lioness everything she knew.

The older lion thought for a moment and spoke, “You look so much like him..” she had told Jahani. Confused, Jahani asked who she was talking about. The mother who was quietly listening, tried to stop the old lady from saying anything. The old lady said not to worry. She then told Jahani who her parents were. She listened intently, soaking in all the information she could.

Her father was a strong and thoughtful Warrior and her mother was his wife and soulmate. Someone had framed her father for a crime he would never have committed and the King executed him. Her mother grieved for so long, she always said she needed to join her love but couldn't cause she was heavily pregnant, though she had tried a couple of times during her pregnancy but the Caretakers were always able to settle her down. So soon after Jahani was born she just left to be with her love.

The old lioness said this after telling Jahani all she knew of her parents. “If things had been different, I just know your parents would have been very proud of you.” Jahani cried and thanked the old lady. When she was ready she left for her home den and was overwhelmed with everyone checking on her or asking her a million questions. That night Jahani was put to sleep with all the cubs surrounding her, sharing their warmth. She thought it was nice.

The day after when Jahani could slip away from the watchers, she made her way to the den with the old lioness but no one was there. She tried for the next couple of days to meet them but no one was there and no one returned.
