This is clever and a lot of fun to imagine. Looks like MacGuyver and H.G. Wells somehow met and went into business together. Or perhaps the government of Victorian England had their own "Area 51", filled with the crashed remains of the Martian walkers. From those, scientists retro-engineered technological weapons so advanced for their time they were barely controllable, such as the Radiating Immolation Pistol above.
