A Glass Chess set made in PTC ProDesktop 2000iĀ² from scratch (apart from the textures, which are the standard ones that came with the program).2001-2008
Update Jan 2008: Changed the lighting, the background colour and the material of the black pieces.

I've made a chess set on ProDesktop too last year for an assignment. I don't think it's nearly as gorgeous as this!

I love this! The 'white' pieces are done very nicely, although the black could use more work (the black castles in particular)

Thank you. The 3D models for each set of pieces are identical, unfortunately the darker glass texture doesn't render as nicely. I'm not too happy with the black pieces in this render though. They look better from other angles (as do the white knights), but other parts of the picture look worse - I thought the render from this angle was the best compromise, but I might post a couple more angles in future (and maybe move the pieces about for a 'mid-game' render).

looks very cool! I really like the clear glass. One note, the Bishop looks alot like the pawns. (hehe I think I own this chess set) ^_^

Thanks. Yeah, I was a bit uninspired with the bishops. They do have a bit more detail on them than is actually visible from this angle (you can just about make it out on the black bishops). Everything was done from my head though, apart from the knights, where I had to use an old wooden chess set for reference.
