They're always fascinating to me, armored horses and men.

I think one of my favorite event of that whole campaign (well, beside the goofy triumph of Surena across Mesopotamia of course XP) was when Crassus's troops were crossing the Euphrates, the bridge partially collapsed, later the encampment was struck several times by lightning, one of the aquilifer turned around as if to signify they should retreat, so the proconsul gave a speech to his soldiers to reassure them... by saying that he was the one who ordered the bridge to be destroyed so that nobody could go back...Β
Very nice btw!

Hahaha, i guess they believed soldiers would fight better if they have no way back. That's a way to pump up the morale of the army .
My favorite part is the part where the Parthian envoys laughed at Crassus as he said he's gonna conquer all Parthia. Iranians have a long history of being cocky, sometime it bite us in the ass, but at Carrhae it ended pretty well
Thanks m8^^

Thanks m8, it sure takes a lot of time to work on details, but it's worth it

The Romans would go on to sack the Persian capital of Ctesiphon, at least a couple of times.

Cataphracts were always my favourite cavalry units If I remember correctly, they were later adopted by the Roman army - great work, it is a pleasure to view your art!

You are always most welcome, and this piece is very nice indeed.Β My cousin who'sΒ a Roman Centurion in aΒ reenactment legion, told me that the Roman legionariesΒ had to abandon their shields, as they were rendered useless by dozens of arrows, and this was the beginning of the end.

Really, that's a very interesting detail, i didn't know about that; but i can imagine that, without the shields Roman legionaries were also much lighter which allowed them to retreat faster.
The development of Lorica Segmentata was also an evolution in Roman warfare which gave him the upper hand in the later conflicts against Parthians!

It was a great improvement, a big step beyond the lorica hamata.

Crassus' actions would be a list of Things No To Do when facing the Parthians.

Crassus made fatal mistake (well, more than one, but this one was cardinal) that he refused help from Armenian king and rushed into heart of enemy territory like it's summer vacation.
Very cool and detailed pictrue ^^

Indeed my friend, Crassus was a businessman he didn't want to share his ''spoils of war'' with Armenians, he also underestimated Parthians, the Parthian force was not even send to face the Romans but to skirmish them, however it managed to annihilate the Roman army.
Thanks
