This is really well done.  The gap between this and pro illustration is really where you stopped working.  The background is very plain and (more importantly, IMHO) looks unfinished compared to the main figure.  The clouds especially.  The suit has an interesting structure and good detail.  I really like the energy circles as an alternative to simpler exhaust or some kind of propellers for locomotion.  I think the POV and pose are nicely dynamic.  The DOF effect seems a little less controlled than the work on the suit, but the concept fits the scene.  I find it a little hard to read where the water intersects with the ships or figure, but that seems like it could be deliberate.

Looks amazing you did a great job with the background, the metallic texture and the light, you just need to work the fingers a little bit more but still looks amazing XD
