Description The Enterprise finds a ship that was supposed to be lost many years ago. It is the USS Intrepid, a ship with an all Vulcan crew, which was thought to have been devoured by a large black hole in space. The hole was home to a giant single-celled organism that nearly destroyed the original Enterprise.

How is this old vessel still intact? Vulcans have long life spans – are there any survivors?

Oh man, if only they had done an episode like this in TNG!! Come to find out though the ship bears a dark secret, and if there are any survivors, they tell Picard via a crackly transmission: 'It would have been better if this ship had not been found, good captain.'

Picard: Explain. I was about to send an away team.

Survivor: This ship, it now contains a threat that has only been contained because of us, her Vulcan crew, being ready to sacrifice ourselves to contain. Humans will not be as resistant to it, and any Away Team will be exposed.
