Discipline: Cross-country / Reining
Personality: Confident in what she does, she is rather independent and yet she has a tolerable dependence on her handler/rider. While she will give her heart in the discipline she can be relatively stubborn and defiant if she doesn't feel confident in what she is being asked. Something she never quite grew out of.

She is an absolute sucker for peppermints and will "maul" you if it isn't opened quickly enough. However, she is reliably harmless. On average sits around the middle of the pecking order, enough to show her worth and passive enough to avoid confrontation.

The attention given in the ring during reining is something she clearly enjoys as she relishes in it quite well. She can be a relatively competitive mare, but just like her handler... the amount of competitiveness varies. While reining is a shared passion, the open field of Cross-country wins this mare's heart over.

Background

Born and bred in Fort Hood, Texas.

It was the start of the season, several months of pasture at put the mare a at a relatively frisky state of mind. It was an impatient wait for their number to arise over the loud speaker that crackled with the raspy voice. Such a sound almost pained the ears, but it made the pulse of an excited mare and handler increase. It was only a matter of time, only a small amount of riders to go before it was their time to shine. They'd practiced, they'd tried, and they had absolute raw enjoyment doing so. This show meant quite a lot to her rider, and yet she would not defeat herself and admit such a thing. It almost seemed like she was fond of contradicting herself, but it only seemed fair not to speak competitively about such an event despite the amount of weight it beared down on her.

It was a qualifying show.

The crowd had grown quiet and several minutes had passed, as the current participant neared its end the crowd started to stir, their hands started to clap. It was clear that the participant was doing the infamous slid n' stop. Quite a fun action to participate in. With only a breath of silence the crowd errupted into a fury of clapping, the announcer crackled over the speaker once more and announced a fond score. The mare shifted softly beneath her rider, Knight was ready and her rider was ready... anticipation.

Knight had only been in the hands of her rider for a short time, not long enough to find the infamous bond most riders had. But it was more of a partnership between each other, a mutual one at that. They just seemed to work with each other versus against.

Heels drew up against Knight's barrel, engaging the mare's hindquarters as her number rang clear over the speakers. It was their turn to shine.

Soon as I saw this fellow I knew I had to try and I had so much fun designing this. I finally got my computer running relatively strong, and this was the first time I ever had to draw on Adobe. Normally I go from PSP to Adobe, but I lost my disk and my key... so no more PSP :*(

Anyway, I worked earnestly on this background and I was disappointed when it all kind of crumbled after the first initial forty-five minutes. Which consisted of doing the rocks and the ditch/ledge. It was fun, but very tedious. And boy am I happy with the horse immensely!

Either way, I hope you all enjoy this. Regardless if I end up with this adoptee, I still had a blast trying
