He just smiles and winks! he's now the new captian of the 12th divison and third president of the bureau of technology because of this invention!!The reason why quincys can't use this awesome tool properly is because they produce a negative inflow of spiritual energy, unlike shinigami who create a positive outflow. the direction of that flow affects the potency of the Mr. Clean hollow eraser (tm)

The fisrt time Ihida showed up, Kubo Tite explained how Quincies use the spirit particles in the atmosphere to fight where as the shinigamis solely use their own spiritual powers. Ergo, a product designed to work with a shinigami's spiritual power's flow would not work properly with a Quincy. It's like trying to eat soup with a fork instead of a spoon.

One of the other Espada comes up to Grimm (Who currently has a nine instead of a six on his arm) and tells him that his power has been fully recognized and that he's being promoted to number six. Grimm is all like 'great! finnaly!' and such and then says that he guesses that he'll have to get his tattoo changed and the Espada says that there is no need and.... Grabs the skin where his tattoo is RIPS it off, Grimm screams in agony, and then puts it back on upside down.
