I gotta tell ya, I discussed this piece with some friends over drinks after they saw it, and the alternate endings they came up with were hilarious! Like, teh laughter they induced threatened to do serious harm.
I wonder sometimes if THEY should be the writers instead of me.

many of my comics get the same response from my friends, just hilerious angles i didn't see when they were being drawn, my friends are always coming up with amazing ideas i should put into the comic sometime (don't tell them i said so though, lol)

Actuelly, it is possible that a human and a transformer (his avatar) fall in love and have sex.
Still, a complicated relationship. Hmm, I would love to see a story of that happening.

My only problem with reading a newspaper is the fact that the media is kinda dead currently and the fact that Transformers access computer technology would be make more sense to gathering current event info.
On the holomatter issue though, certainly would make a few old pairings possible; ie Powerglide and his girl, Skids and his, and Seaspray.

Oddly enough, I'd actually considered that detail about the TFs having access to superior tech when writing the strip.
The first arc of the IDW ongoing has it that the Autobots don't have access to the energon they once had, so I conceived this whole episode (partly) around the idea that they may be willing to use other data-collection methods as they try to preserve their resources.
It's also my intention to suggest that Sideswipe's visit to the diner is a somewhat individual action on his part - his own particular 'ritual' as he puts it. It's hinted at there in panel 1's dialogue. It may truthfully NOT be an efficient method for recon - but it could work. Imagine the discussion Sideswipe will have with Prowl if there IS something funky going on in Colorado - I can see Prowl, open mouthed, saying 'you found out about this HOW???'
Ever since reading 'Infiltration', I've liked this idea that Transformers may be using these kinds of surveillance and reconnaisance techniques. It's ripe ground to explore story-wise.

Not sure if you thought about this but Id imagine the holomatter being a costly energon usage tech while accessing the internet not so much.
Although I still like what you did here, and I agree it would be funny to see Prowl's face like that.

Something I learned, though, is that if you get that bogged down in story logic, sometimes you'll never get your story told. Sometimes (for me, at least) it's a case of throwing out what causes the biggest problems and keeping things you think you can get away with. At the end of the day, if everyone's entertained, we're all good.

I really enjoyed this one. The script writing was fun, and the art is nicely expressive. (I especially liked panel 2.) I like the idea that they'd check up on the newspapers. And the whole holomatter-crush idea was cute.

I kinda feel sorry for the waitress. I also like the use of the holomatter human but it raises the question "how can a holomatter image eat?"

Funny you raise that, as it was one of several issues that I caught when I was revising the script (there were some bigger logic problems that I had to fix). My rationale is: If he can pick up a newspaper, he can interact with food and drink. Exactly how, though, is anyone's guess!

Open-matter storage. A gap opens up within the holo-matter, allowing for the containment of ingested goods. However, once the holo-matter is cut, the stored food/drink collapses onto the ground.

This is great. It's a fresh idea too. I like the use of the simulation human, and good to see Prime lurking in the shadows.
