Second fractal out of eight in my Myers-Briggs project, inspired by the famous Myers-Briggs type indicator . This project is aimed to represent each of the eight key behavioural characteristics (Extroversion/Introversion, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving) with a fractal.

This is extremely similar to Extroversion in structure, but I tried to keep them separate in concept and colouring. The idea behind Extroversion was to show an outward movement, as the word "extroverted" means "going outward", and indicates the tendency of an individual to seek people "outside" their inner universe. Introversion, its exact opposite, is associated with "going inward" and developing one's own sense of self more than social relationships. Hence why the core-like aspect of this one artwork - one I find myself pretty well represented by.

Paired work (Extroversion):

Thanks a lot! I always feel as though my own halves of the MBTI were less represented because the opposite ends outshone them. I'm glad that someone appreciates both!
It was a very fun project and I still look back at it with pride, even after all these years.

This one gives the impression of electrical circuits or mechanical components, and the light in the centre of course makes me think of some kind of rocket engine or energy core.

Yes! Exactly that. Again, you're really spot on.

Well I saw that you said it was core-like in the description too, so I guessed that was the impression you wanted to give, but it does look very effective.

I have, though I am not releasing resolutions any larger than 600*900 of this for commercial reasons. I hope you understand and thanks for appreciating it!

Hi
Thats great..I'll be waiting! ^_^
It would also be even more interesting if you also made fractal pictures for the 8 cognitive functions as well. xD Do you study Jung?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

heavenriver In reply to BeyondAReason [2012-05-03 20:49:22 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, a fractal per cognitive function. That's an interesting idea! I'll think about it!
Not a Jung student anyway. I'm studying computer science & engineering. About as far from psychology as it can be But it's one of my many free time interests.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BeyondAReason In reply to heavenriver [2012-05-04 01:47:17 +0000 UTC]

Okay! I'm really curious to see how the different functions can be expressed through fractal art. I wonder how Ni would look like..
Haha xD Depending on where you go with computer science and engineering, there could possibly be a link between that and psychology (maybe..?). I'm studying civil engineering when I go off to college next year and I think that is further away from psychology than computer sci. I enjoy studying personality on my own free time too and I find Jung's work pretty credible. ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

heavenriver In reply to BeyondAReason [2012-05-04 20:40:00 +0000 UTC]

I still have no clue what my other six fractals will look like, I'll find out as time passes I guess
And I don't know how much of a link there can be between computer science, engineering, and psychology... I think everything relates to everything else in some way, but you don't get to know that often through courses and all. That's why I occupy my free time with activities that have little to do with what I study. Some of Jung's work is pretty fascinating.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BeyondAReason In reply to heavenriver [2012-05-05 02:27:26 +0000 UTC]

Okay As far as you have gone, the 2 fractals you have made on extroversion/introversion are quite good.

Thats true. I just always find small little connections to completely different things. And I think that its possible for a few very specialized fields to exist that merge all the 3 together. Such a field would be quite interesting! And thats nice! Ideally I would like to take courses on everything I'm interested in, but that probably wouldn't be physically possible. (7 different majors? No way! )
I find it fascinating that Jung was able to think of personality theory and the structures/dynamics of personality in the first place.

Maaan you could as well be talking in my place! I want to do and learn so many things, I'd need 240-hour days for them all! I'm keeping it down to what I can handle because otherwise, it'd be impossible for me to do all I want to! I have lots of different things I can learn about in my spare time. Also, I love classics of literature. And the piano. And so much more.
Right, here's the follow-up! [link]
