I had a lot of fun playing with them, but I couldn't get a wholly different shape that I liked, so I stuck to the original and worked on the composition instead. The colours seem satisfying enough - in principle, it looked as though this would've become another rainbow barf of those I sometimes do in my fractal spare time, but then I opted for a more eye-friendly colour palette I'm quite happy with the depth rendition, though!
