This sort of reminds me of the one TT-33 I owned and actually got rid of. I bought a TT-33 for $110 at a gun show from a guy. Wanting a 'disposable Tokarev' as a vehicle weapon. My 54 was my main carry piece and in far better condition.Β
The "$110 Special" as I called it was as I look back, a very rare piece. 1941 dated Soviet made, handed to the Chinese, who also stamped it and passed it to the North Koreans, who in turn marked it. Only to have it captured by a US Marine during the Korean war..who in turn etched his name and serial number on the back strap.
Problem was the soldier's grandson got ahold of it. Stripped the bluing off it, did a horrid piss poor parkerization job on it, took the grips off, lost the clips for the grips. turned the grips upside down so the star formed a pentagram and drilled two holes in the grips and sheet metal screwed the grips in place and painted the stars red.
The barrel was pitted too and serious pitting was all over the gun. likely due to the North Korean's usage.
I took it to another gunshow 2 years later, and had it at my table. Some guy offered me $200 for it (when TTs were on average $175 then). I sold it. Not 15 minutes later another guy walked in with a Soviet TT-33, 1940 dated, NO import marks and better yet, holster andΒ capture papers for $215. I didn't even argue the price and paid the man. Turned out the pistol was captured by a Officer on the Eastern Front, he carried it, til he was captured by a Sergeant in the 30th division with it. That Sergeant's son was selling it cause "His wife wanted NO guns in the house."
Thats one pistol I will not sell. I took it to a show years later to show a guy the gun and had two people offer me $1000 in cash for it on the spot. It was seriously tempting to sell for that cash. But I didn't.

I'm not a Repub, or Demo, but yeah. O-Bummer (an' His anti-gun goons) areΒ always trying to take away our 2nd Amendment rights. I'm NRA, and as a such, We'll never give up our rights.

People say this gun is a mash up of many other guns, and has issues.Β Owning one myself, a Romanian TT-33.Β The only thing I can say for it, do not rack a round and carry it loaded.Β IT has a floating fire pin, and any hard jolt might cause it to fire.Β Other then that, its a pretty good gun.

Word to the wise on the 54Β A very small percentage, were fixed, so they don't have a floating firing spring. Meaning, if you chamber a round to fire, but do not cock the hammer. It's Possible, a hard jolt (like dropping it) will cause it to fire. Β I have a Russian made TT-33, and I had to drop it 40 times, but yes, I did get it to fire. So, be careful.Β you know, the round for this gun (7.62X25MM), is based off the 7.63Γ25mm Mauser, for the Amazing Mauser C96.Β Its just ever so slightly smaller. the C96, had the largest made round, for a hand gun, till the .357 in the late 1930's.Β Mind you, the mauser round was made in 1896!!! Nice collection.Β My TT33, has a 9mm conversion. The 7.62 TT rounds are $$$.

Whoa! Sweet looking Chinese Tokarev! I nearly got it's Yugo counterpart (M70A) when I was beating myself up over what standard pistol I should get. Glad I settled on my M1911 though.
Did you refinish the frame or is that stainless/aluminum? One reason I chose the PA-63 was the two toned design.
