Personality: Oliver is cool and adaptable, he happily ‘goes with the flow’ of events and has no problem changing course. He doesn’t let things get him too down and rarely holds grudges, whats the point? Life is to be enjoyed and Oliver has no problem being silly and having a good time, even if it makes him look bad or stupid, as long as he’s having fun and not hurting anybody he doesn’t mind. Personally he feels no better than anyone else, human, mutant, whatever, and gets a little uncomfortable when that kind of thing is brought up. Admitting he doesn’t understand what its like to be a physically strange-looking mutant, he can kind of see how it may bother people, but personally he dislikes the whole superiority thing.

History: Oliver was born in Alaska to a 16 year old mother, prompting her dropping out of school. He had a pretty confusing early life, going between different places and eventually ending up living in Phoenix AZ when his father got a job at the Higher Order. His human mother did not want little Oliver associating with the kind of people Vincent worked with, so she kept him away from the Order.

She knew full well that Vincent fooled around with other people and that he had issues committing to her, but it wasn’t really that that split them up, as long as Vince supported she and Oliver, she just dealt with it. Eventually though Vincent’s attitude towards humans leaked into their marriage and she couldn’t let Oliver be poisoned by his father’s nasty behavior and beliefs, so she divorced Vincent and moved to California when Oliver was about 9.

Because he missed his father Oliver’s mother made sure to get him involved with other families and try to get him a lot of friends that would keep him company and keep him busy. She also tried to find other families with mutants in them to expose him to a friendly environment where mutants and humans got together in harmony, so he would grow up knowing it was possible. It worked too, Oliver had many friends both human and mutant, from mutants like himself that were indistinguishable physically from humans, to those that were quite odd looking and had no way to hide it. The community he was in was very forgiving, full of strange people from all walks of life and as a teenager he was happy and cool with all of it, very excited when he discovered his own mutant abilities to control water.

Even though Oliver’s mother made sure to keep as little contact with Vincent as she possibly could, at some point it was inevitable that he would find them. It finally happened when he was 15, Oliver’s father located their home and she knew that he would try to take Oliver back to the bigoted Higher Order, poisoning his good disposition towards humans. To preemptively combat this she contacted the X-Institute, figuring they could keep Oliver safe, and let them know about his father’s desires, having them come retrieve Ollie. He was extremely upset to be taken away from his family and friends again but also looks forward to learning more about his abilities, and of course meeting a whole new set of friends and making new connections. What he’ll miss most is the ocean, he couldn’t spend a happier day than on the beach, just playing or surfing, or laying on the sand.

Extras: Ollie misses his friends a lot and is happy to make new ones, he doesn’t mind people with quirks, though if they seem self-destructive he may avoid them.

He enjoys sea food quite a bit, and fruit juice.

While in California he was in a small human/mutant community program/support group where families with mutant or other family members could get together and try to promote a healthy relationship between the two groups. him with some of his friends there.
