Well, your idea of cool stuff (the link) is for me lame. The as you expressed "lame metal bar"Β is a handcrafted damascus steel, not a fine curved kitchen knife combined with some elements of aquarium filter and speaker covers...

I have a ton of literature in my gallery that's far better than what is handed a DD lately, yet no one suggests it. It's all about being known or having good connections.Β
That blade is badass.

Do you know you can self-suggest to the literature CVs?

I don't want to do it myself.

If you want other people to suggest and feature your work, I can tell you from experience that one of the best ways of doing that is by being a positive force in the community. If you start with degrading the work of other artists and insisting that yours is better, you're going to alienate people instantly. People will seriously mentally blacklist you as someone they don't want to help. People with positive attitudes are much more likely to get DDs. Support your fellow writers and they will do the same for you.Β
Connections doesn't get you a DD, and most of us CVs actively avoid giving DDs to people we know because of this reason. When I look for DDs I scroll all the unpopular areas of dA looking for new people and old members who have never had a DD. Most of the suggestions I receive are from people I've never heard of for people I've also never heard of. People send me notes telling me exuding passion; the artist makes them feel so strongly about them and their work that they want to go out of their way to bring it more exposure. If you don't want to self-suggest, that's what you need to make people feel.Β

Like the one in the picture or would it have a hilt?

Only the blade I'm afraid. A completely finished seax with hilt and scabbard would be 170 euro, at your door

really? I would have expected Damascus steel would be more expensive. Then again, it's not set in any handle yet or anything.

I could make you a fully finished seax, without any problem, if you wish. With a similar blade it would be 170 euro. This includes an ornamented leather sheath and postal fee too

That would be cool, but it's not really my thing. (I'm afraid of sharp blades.) My brother on the other hand, would love it, but he's out of money most of the time. I might be interested in figurines or stuff like that if you do that. I never know what gifts to give my dad on festive occasions.

afraid of sharp blades??
hmm...figurines? Like chess figurines or...?

Nikolaj In reply to hellize [2014-05-17 06:57:08 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, afraid, they're dangerous. They can cut you if you're not careful (and I'm rather clumsy). I usually cut myself when cutting Β paprika or something. So a big, very sharp blade is not for me.
As to figurines, I was thinking like small statues. As big as a hand or something? 10-15cm or something. But I don't need any right now.

Oh, I understand.
Well steel isn't that easy to form, so I can't really make complex statues, only simple stuff
