It's like drawing a picture to assosciate with the sound? For the kanji, maybe... I never could memorize any kanji characters... but katakana/hiragana... back in college, there were three of us in class who would pass notes to each other using that... but they weren't japanese words... if you know what I mean.
But then we stopped... and I completely forgot everything.

It's not too hard lol.. (we remembered how to construct sentences using TTPOV: topic/time place object verb) But there's just too many rules and particles to remember (that's the thing I have trouble with
Yeah for kanji (cuz that's what they pretty much are: pictures lol).. but I remembered hiragana and katakana since my level 1 teacher had these transparent overhead papers with really bad puns and pictogram-like visuals XD
Like.. to remember the hiragana "mu" sound there was this picture of a moose made from the actual む "mu" character (with the circle thingy for its nose, the weird lil apostrophe line for its eye and the bottom hook-like thing for its mouth)
And kataka "na" ナ looks like a knife and Japanese for knife is "'na'ifu" hence.. the knifey..ness.. to it (well that's just to name a few) Err.. yeah.. sounds crazy and stupid.. but it worked for me

Gahh.. the lineart takes me at least 3 hours to do (I always stroke and then undo and then try again, repeat lol) and that's after the 4 hours of fiddling with the sketch

Ugh, I tried that once, you make a line, think it's a little crooked, undo, try again... X_X Ugh...
And yeah, I do have a tablet. But I always sketch on paper and scan in, so I just go ahead and ink it and scan that in, adjust settings, etc. Then do any clean up linework on the computer.

When I was saying specifics, I was referring to a detailed step by step guide on how you would do an image. What you have here is a rough step by step summation. I'm working on a tutorial/book myself and am realising jus how much work is involved even for the simplest of things..
You have a lot more than 2 pics that could be in an art book though. I don't fav very many pics, only what I like, and I already have a small collection of your works. I'm just saying that you have an impressive style and talent and I seriously think it could be seen in your own art book one day if you wanted it to : )

Yeah, that's why I don't do much real tutorials XD; But if I had to, doing an OC tut would be slightly easier than a PS one, since it's not as complicating when it comes to controls and brush options.
I honestly get put off whenever you bring up the book subject
