Description Another piece from my graduate studio---I've actually been drawing these things for years and now finally they get to be three-dimensional! Or, well, relief-sculptures anyway. My partner named them the "Ragamuffin Worms" and I thought it was perfect.

They're by far the largest thing from this semester---the box is 14"x18", though only a few inches deep, painted with acrylic. The worms themselves are styrofoam bases with paperclay faces and plastic eyes, wrapped in fabric scraps from my huge collection (a lot of these scraps have stories behind them, too). The border on the box is inspired by the work of Russian golden-age illustrator Ivan Bilibin.

I still think I want to do something decorative with the back of the box so there isn't quite so much negative space, but I haven't decided what yet. Once they're totally finished, they'll find a new home at my parents' place.

These are the cutest things.
I like nature-y things, so I'd probably put some shells or feathers in the background. But that's me, not you! Feel free to take the suggestion if you want to though.
