If I take one picture in RAW format, will I need to change the exposure from this one picture and save them as 3-5 different files or is there an easier way?
Nice tutorial btw

as photomatix support .raw format you are able to just use one raw file to create a hdr image though I have find it more rewarding with having 3 different exposures in .raw format

OH, and great job on the tutorial!

I've found that when first taking your multiple shots, it's best to lock down the aperture and only change the shutter speed to obtain the various exposures, that way the depth-of-field will not change, giving a better result.

true, works really good with 5 different exposures too.

awesome job jesper

i've come to find that i don't have the AEB thing, but i do have RAW. So what would I do then?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hellraidgr In reply to aliatvisilisntle [2010-01-11 22:17:36 +0000 UTC]

just take a raw picture but instead of clicking generate hdr image just go file then open and open up your picture

Propagating the awfulness that is Photomatix HDR.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hellraidgr In reply to coulombic [2010-01-11 22:06:44 +0000 UTC]

what do you mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

coulombic In reply to Hellraidgr [2010-01-15 03:22:23 +0000 UTC]

HDR is so, so overdone, man. It's overdone, and it's honestly pretty ugly. It destroys natural contrasts, induces noise, and makes everything look straight out of an LSD-Disney nightmare gone horribly awry. I think too many people use HDR, the effect, in lieu of "good" photography. As to say, lighting, composition, thought, planning. Nope, with HDR, they just slam the tripod down, fire their three shots mindlessly, and they're done.

Thus, to sum things up, HDR is the modern equivalent of the velvet painting.

Hellraidgr In reply to coulombic [2010-01-15 13:43:41 +0000 UTC]

not really, I usually do my shots manually, up to 7 different exposures
