I can't tell if Venus looks unhappy or bored. On the one hand, she could be very unhappy to be Mars's companion and present...and would rather be with someone else. On the other hand...she could just be thinking, "Fml. This is so BORING! Can we watch something else? I mean, this is all you do. Rape, pillage, and plunder. Isn't there anything more...intellectual...about being the god of war?"

Maybe that city down there is her beloved Troy, and she's upset to see it in flames.

That could be it, too. And Mars seems to be the one setting it aflame, because...that's just what he does. Even if it's his job, she could still hold him personally responsible for wrecking her city.

Which is odd because Mars supported Troy since Venus supported Troy, until Diomedes, a mere mortal, had the balls to attack them on the battlefield and send Mars running home to his mommy.

Wonderful work here! The posing is excellent. Both characters express a great deal...I like the dangerous look on Mars' face. Ive also become fond of Venus' rosy butt cheeks.

This is one of the most amazing pieces of art I have ever seen anywhere! There’s so much going on here.
I like how Venus’s body isn’t like that of a modern woman but rather like a woman from a Renaissance painting right down to her hair and skin tones. She’s all over Mars but he doesn’t care about her, he’s more concerned with his model. We identify Mars easily by his sword, shield and helmet and his cape is a warlike crimson red. What I like most is the model which I suspect is actually a representation of what is happening in the human world where we have what looks like the city of Athens being torched in war and Mars is taking pride in how his influence has affected the lives of the mortals.
This is such a good piece you should do more Greek and Roman myths and legends.
