Description
"Saul was six months and two days older than I.
He was skinny, like me.
In order of appearance: sunburned cheeks, relaxed shoulders, a straight, confident sort of posture, knobby knees.
A messy, curly blond fringe had once obscured his brows and even parts of his eyes, but as a result of a lost bet, his younger sister got to cut it off with garden shears four years ago. Having long since recovered from the hacking, the hair beneath his cap was tamer now, pushed back from habitual tousling and a veritable lifetime of hat wearing. Below those curls was a face that was long and narrow and somewhat squared-off, as though the boy was entirely comprised of rectangles and rhombuses and other rough-edged shapes (not including the slight roundness of baby fat that remained in his cheeks). Though he was well into pubescence at that point, there was still a very obvious gawkiness to him: awkward, scrawny limbs, unpredictable and sparse facial hair and a voice caught between childhood and adulthood that was prone to cracking whenever he tried to be serious."
