This work is another reason why I thought of the late Charles Faris when I saw your gallery. This is exactly the sort of image he would have compiled when alive, and probably a similar subject too!

One of his style cues was to make hair stand out with almost hyper-real contrast as seen here. He also had a fondness for increasing saturation in parts of his images, frequently when handling foliage ... almost as if he was trying to recreate some of the backgrounds from HR Pufnstuf. Whenever I see near-iridescent saturation, he springs to mind!
