Description
As the weather has finally improved a friend and I went to Southwold this morning to photograph the pier.The sea was a touch more stormy than we were expecting - huge waves and massive amounts of spray. I spent most of my time cleaning my filters, only to watch them get covered the moment I put them back on the camera!
Most of my shots are covered in water drops, but this is one that managed to escape the dousing.

Getting filters and camera covered in spray is something I know only too well....the Atlantic coast can be pretty rough where I live.
Fortunately, cameras are more resiliant than we think they are...my D80 has withstood numerous dousings from errant waves...but cleaning filters on the scene is really annoying.

The North Sea's bad enough - I shudder to think what the Atlantic must be like! Cleaning filters on the scene is irritating, but what always worries me is that there might be particles of sand in spray as well - I've scratched several filters like that in the past

That's a lovely shot. Love the foreground interest and you are so much braver than me with your camera. I would be terrified of getting it anywhere near the water!

I was in Frinton last month and managed to walk to the waters edge just as the biggest wave of the day came crashing in and completely soaked me... Luckily the camera was fine and because I was about to take a pic, I got one of the wave splashing me as I went "EEP!!!" and dived out of the way... Makes me chuckle.

Much the same thing happened to me today, although instead of "EEP!" I went for a more manly "Arrggghhh!" instead
