I think that the b/w would only work better than this one if there wasn't that wisp of cloud and the birds on the right, just a grey-scale panel. The silhouette is far more pronounced here with the colours, don't you find?

I agree that the silhouette is more defined in this one. However, the birds and clouds in the BW make it interesting, I think, otherwise it would just be a blank uniformly lighted 2D picture. It was a gamble I'll admit, going for such a look. In fact, I may agree with you on the clouds. I'm not convinced enough to settle on one though.
