Description
Having completely ballsed up by saving over the original version of this image with a version of the scoreboard/status panel that was never used, I was looking for an opportunity to remake it and use it for some other purpose... and so, when the programmer offered me the opportunity to give each set of 20 caverns its own unique topper for the final cavern, this was my first thought for the 'Remixed' caverns, based on Bob McFarlane's PC game.

Given that The Lower Caverns is a remix/update of the SAM Coupé conversion of the classic ZX Spectrum platform game, Manic Miner, I felt it was important to have at least one image that reflected the idea of being in a mine.

Redrawing the missing portions was, frankly, a horrific experience and, while I think the end result here is probably better than the original in most respects, I know the righthand side turned into a bit of a bodge because I lost the sense of what I'd drawn after the scoreboard elements were placed. I shall endeavour to avoid overwriting such completed images in future, and I think that continuing to work primarily in Photoshop will help, since I can keep the components on separate layers.
