Description
So I made myself one. Only evidently I didn't try hard enough. I was under the impression the term worked for any oddly colored canine who wore silly human clothing. But it seems there are more stringent stipulations!I was thinking, while I was working, how ludicrous I wanted to make it, and decided to go rather conservatively. There aren't any absurdly bright, clashing colors are completely ridiculous accessories. But it's got some piercings and human type hair and textiles. Oh, and the glasses. I had a bit of a chuckle at the glasses.
Way back when I used to design lion characters for no real reason other than the fact that it was entertaining. I have a few silly lion characters. No sparkledogs
Or is he a wolf? I don't know. A wolf/dog cross.
'Sparkledog' makes me think they should sparkle in the sunlight. That just makes me laugh all the harder.
As a bit of a disclaimer, I don't have anything against anyone who does draw what would be termed a sparkledog. If that's what someone enjoys drawing, then that's what they should draw.

Oh I didn,t know they were called sparkledogs before! I've had a couple of animal characters, but they rarely, if never, had any silly human accessories....But you want me to make a sparklesomething.

I remember a discussion we had within the Russian community, since a lot of teens draw either sparkledogs or their "counterpart" emodogs (or whatever these are called). Quite a few said they were just "drawing themselves in the form of a dog, wolf, fox, or a Chernobyl mix-breed", either for role-plays or just because they felt like it.
Still, quite a few have grown in the recent time and try new things, so perhaps it's just a kind of a... grow-up period? Definitely true in some instances.
To the topic - yours is just gorgeous. You should have added pink stripes though, or at least more sparks onto it, so that it 'd look more... sparkly? but srsly, just a pleasure to look at )

It's adorable in a cute nerdy way. I like it! I especially LOVE the little sketches on the side. Those are always my favorite because they give a glimpse into the character. And the expression are adorable as well. Anyways, good job, like the sparkledog (that kind of rhymed in a weird way, not really, oh well.)

you doin' it wrong.
THIS is real sparkledog: [link]
is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiineeeeeeeeeees!
but seriously, I'm getting sick of all those unnatural creatures here on dA... ok, imagination is free, but if something is called as WOLF or FOX, let it be at least similar to that species... borderline between naturality, but originality, and sparkle-sweet-glitter-kawaiidesu creatures is really thin -_-
personally, I like some accessories like bracelets, pendtans, feather jewellery, something wings... don't like earrings (especially if it's ton of piercings everywhere), and leg-warmers just annoys me, especially, if they're striped in red-white-black, typical in "emo style" ... recently popular are tongues like lizard, also striped o_O fur in crossboard markings, rainbow markings... that's getting just weird, people want to be original, but it's like competition - whose fursona would look more unnormal, and instead of originality, they're almost the same =/

This is actually one of the few sparkledog designs that I enjoy. Most sparkledogs blind me with their color schemes, this one is actually easy on the eyes. XD His glasses are a nice touch too.

I rather like this Nicolae, myself.
Itβs nice having a sparkledog that looks soβ¦ put-together. Like, heβs more balanced and actually believable. And I love how the scarf is kinda flopped over him, which gives it the sense that it actually was a dog that put it on.

Haha, my characters are totally sparkle-dogs (although really plain ones compared to most peoples).
That's what I get for using the same characters that I designed when I was 12.
