Description Something I made inbetween commissions over the weekend. This is a new character of mine on the forum! Her name is Kimani, and she works together with a male named Rei in delivering messages and small parcels to the Clans of Vaelnir. They both work as a sort of "postal service" and a means of communication between the different Clans. Hence that harness system and multiple bags. The one on her shoulder is Minnow's pouch (SEE THE TINY FEESH), while the other is for carrying goods, parcels, medicines, and other junk.

Kimani is going to be very bubbley and girly and optimistic. She is the younger sister of Nioka and Koro of Highwood. Oh yeah, and btw, she is a blue-gray color. I'm not sure if she looks more blue to other people on different monitors, but she's supposed to be a very, very light, cool-colored gray. So...I'm not breaking any rules, I promise. :3

History: Kimi was born and raised high in the Tel'amoss Mountains, among Highwood's powerful Clan. Her and her brother Koro marked the last litter her mother, Nava, would have in her lifetime. Her elder brother, Nioka, was born a year before both Kimi and Koro. He assumed the role of mentor to his younger siblings and continues to play the "big brother" part in both their lives.

Kimi was notorious for wandering off as a pup and getting lost. On several occassions, the entire Clan was dispatched to search for her and return her to the dens. As she grew older, she began skipping some of her lessons in favor of exploring the mountain side. While her mentors, mother, and brothers would scorn her, she couldn't help but feel her place belonged outside of her Clan. In an effort to appease her family and tame her flighty nature, she tried to apprentice under the Clan's Duvarii jewelery-maker, Inuba. She learned the art of mask designs and what jewels and decorations are the most ideal for both Warrior and Duvak masks. Yet her interest in training and attempts at calming her free spirit did not last long. One summer morning, while on patrol along the Clan's borders, she decided to leave the comfort and safety of the forest. She explored the vast, golden prairies that marked the border between Tel'amoss Forest and Hiniki Plains. While there, she encountered a creature unlike any she'd seen before.

A female gorbear and her cub were foraging for berries and prairie roots, when the mother picked up on the other predator's scent. Before Kimi had a chance to ivestigate the strange, new scent, the gorbear female was on top of her. She only barely managed to slip away and outrun her enemy, though she did not come away from their encounter unscathed. Kimi made sure she was far from the gorbear before she settled down in the prairie to rest her wounded body. Minnow attempted to find help, but she didn't want to leave her friend for too long, in case the enemy returned. The sun passed over her and took the day's heat with it. As dusk neared, the pair caught another strange scent on the winds, though the owner was far from vicious. He found her and dressed what wounds he could before returning her to her Clan. On the way, she learned more about him. His name was Rei, and he was a Vaelnirian messenger who delivered items or messages from one Clan to the next. A born wanderer with no attachment to any one Clan. He intrigued her, as did his wandering way of life. When they neared Highwood's camp, it was as if Kimi's encounter with the gorbear had never happened. She excitedly told her family and Clanmates about the stranger, as well as the gorbear on the border, and revealed her intent to follow this new male on his journeys and become a Vaelnirian messenger as well. While her family objected (especially her mother and Nioka), she had already set her mind to undertaking this vagabond way of life. Unwilling to listen to any further arguement about what she planned to do with her life, she left with Rei the next morning, despite her family's dislike of the idea.

For over a year now, the pair have traveled together. Kimi has learned that being a messenger is not all fun and games. The days are long and the journey between two Clans can often be exhausting and perilous. But she did not give up, regardless of how many times she thought she should. She loved to see Vaelnir and her lands and wouldn't trade her current lifestyle for anything else in the world. She has seen more places within the past year, than most Murai will ever seel in a lifetime. Her family has grown to accept this way of life and love her unconditionally, yet Nioka still worries about her and her safety and wishes she'd come home.

hahaha sort of. xD Unbeing and I on the boards were trying to figure out a way for them to tote around parcels and goods. She had originally planned on having some sort of harness system in order to attach a "mail bag," so I mentioned Crane and sled dog harnesses. Her harness for Rei actually makes more sense than mine, so I may need to revamp the design used here. She needs to be able to carry more and stuff, whoops. x3

Thanks Char! Yeah, I umm...really liked that image and felt bad that I'd drawn it in an area that didn't allow me to add her body and finish it. Ah well. xD
