Description
On one of my off days I began experimenting with cut-out figures and collage. Here is my first little experiment.Yes yes, Watership Down. Good book. This doesn't really have anything to do with it, though it might have informed me subliminally. It was an unfortunate coincidence.

XD! "Experiment" successful, I would say... Not just good work; the affect/effect of the symbolic comes off very well...

It actually doesn't make me think of Watership Down at all. Your art style is quite distinctive from the film. My first thought was "yin and yang" from the thumbnail.

I don't know, this really could fit to the theme of Watership Down. Especially with the spirit rabbit type of thing. I also like the cut out idea very much, it looks so cool.

Actually, you could also relate it to The Velveteen Rabbit. I like the lineiness of the spirit 'bit.

I haven't heard of Watership Down. I have a feeling I should probably look it up. Anyway, its a very nice effect there.
Do you scan things like this in, or do you take a picture? Just curious.

Lovely! I really like the whimsicality of the rabbit on the right and the more grounded feel to the one on the left.

I love that book! I was wondering if this was from it when I saw the title, but I was like "nah, couldn't be" but then it WAS! Sort of. Subliminally. I really like this

I rather like this piece; You say it's cut-outs? I can't see the cutout but myself, unless you mean around the edges of the paws and ears. XD;
But I rather like the background; it kind of looks ethereal; while the spirit rabbit is very awesome.
As many have said, this is reminiscent of Watership Down; though I wouldn't say the Black Rabbit; I would say it makes me think of Hazel and mirroring him, or perhaps the other way around, El Ahrairah (although we discover they are one in the same at the end.)

I trust you've seen the Watership Down animated movie. Scared me crapless as a kid, especially when Fiver is following around that black and red-eyed ghost. This is lovely though!

I always loved this idea of the spirit rabbit. I, too, thought of Watership Down when I saw this but it's a wonderful image. I especially love the way the spirit rabbit seems to "pop" off the page for me.

I've got to give this credit. I love Watership Down! It was a big part of my childhood. I know that sounds weird but when I was a kid I didn't register that the rabbits were ripping each other's throats out. I only saw talking bunnies. Everything else was a blank. And then later on in life I read the book. It was awesome. Sadly, none of my friends understand my love for it. They think I'm weird.

Since Watership Down, anything with rabbits and spirits is instantly connected with the book.
Bummer, eh?

I think if you really wanted it to be Watership Down, the spirit rabbit should have stars in his ears.
Neat pic anyway! It's kind of ying and yangy.

I adore the style that these two are done in. There is still a great sense of realism between both the rabbit and the spirit rabbit, but the enhancement of line on the Spirit rabbit definitely adds a sense of the spirit world. The simple background also lends itself very well in not taking away from the image itself.

Wow, this has an amazing amount of dept to it considering its just collage, that blue ink background works amazingly well at making the picture look a lot deeper than it is. Really great, clever and well executed design. I did click the thumbnail thinking that it was a watership down picture, but aren't we all subliminally drawing from our experiences. I absolutely love the way you've drawn the black rabbit. Really gorgeous picture, I love it.
