"Renegade!"

The massive black stallion swung his head around to look at the little shetland cross that was bounding his way. She smiled brightly at him, her blue eyes sparkling even on the overcast day.

"Yes?" He grumbled, standing up straighter.

"There's another herd moving in to the area- I think they might be looking for a lost foal. I heard there might be one missing around here," She chirped, gesturing to the horizon. He spotted the colorful silhouettes of horses approaching, massive dust clouds pluming up from where they walked. Renegade pinned his ears.

"Tell Cassian and the others to get moving. We're leaving," he stated. Aikane nodded and darted off, tail flagged behind her as she ran. Renegade turned back to the herd, watching their approach... Why were they approaching so quickly? Normally, band stallions were good about not driving other herds off of their lands. So why-?

Then the herd scattered. Three horses were zigging and zagging through the herd, trying to chase stragglers off. Bachelors! He had already lost Aeryn and Ardis to them, he wouldnt lose the rest!

Omari called out to him, and the two stallions locked eyes. They shared a look, and Renegade knew that the chestnut was already on the same page. Their herd finally got moving. It wasn't nearly fast enough for his liking, but with Bellatrix, California, and Ciemny all expecting, there was only so fast they could go. Renegade shook his head and loped around to guard their flank. The ground shook as the other herd stampeded towards them. He bellowed out a threat, striking the air to try and direct them around his herd. The herd horses swerved to dodge them, the bachelors did not.

A mottled gray stallion bee lined towards Ren. The massive stallion took off after his herd, kicking his dinner plate sized hooves out behind him. He charged after his own herd. They were finally picking up some good speed after the near collision. Ren whinnied towards them, trying to urge them onwards, but instead, a few whirled around to face him. What were they-?!

Renegade winced as teeth met his hocks. He whirled up and around to meet the grey bachelor. They met in a flurry of teeth and hooves. His teeth ripped at the young stallion, who was quickly realizing he may have bitten off more than he could chew. The half clyde shoved the stallion down with his brute strength and drove his knees down into his ribs. The bachelor squealed in agony and squirmed to get away. Ren stood, allowing the bachelor the chance to flee... or limp.. away.

The sound of battle made Ren whip around. His eyes landed on Muertos double barrel kicking the red appaloosa stud directly in the chest.

"You fight like my mother!" She taunted, luring the stallion away from the foals and more vulnerable mares. Cassian lunged after the pair, ensuring his friend couldn't be stolen away again. To his right, Ashwood was ripping the leopard stallion a new one. She had taken a bite out of his neck and refused to let go. The bachelor was practically dragging her along as he tried to make a break for it.

Within moments, the other two were off and running after their compatriot. The herd stood in a muddled mess, breathing hard. After a few moments, they turned to look to Renegade. His hide prickled uncomfortably under all the attention.

"Keep moving," he barked, turning to watch the bachelors disappear into the nearby woods.

His eyes caught a glimmer of gold in his peripheral, but when he turned to look, there was nothing there.
